I’m always surprised to see how much he enjoys playing the Substance discs. The differences between Joy Division and New Order are evident, yet they complement each other flawlessly. The only thing that irritates me is that I can no longer play our discs every night. I am eagerly awaiting the next step. So, let’s take advantage of substance and get ready for the future. With the announcement of a show in Spain and France in March 2025, Peter Hook & the Light will continue their extensive global tour this year, performing the entirety of the Joy Division and New Order albums. These additional dates follow tours in Australia, New Zealand, South America, and North America in 2024, as well as a tour in the United Kingdom and Ireland in the following month.

Substance is a compilation double album released by Factory Records in 1987 and 1988. This was New Order’s first album and included all of their singles to date, including Blue Monday, Shellshock, Temptation, Bizarre Love Triangle, and True Faith. It is Factory Records’ 200th album, which was made by Factory director Tony Wilson so that the songs could be played on his car’s CD player. It continues to be New Order’s best-selling record.

The next year saw the release of Joy Division’s album Substance, which includes the singles that aren’t on their two albums, Transmission, Love Will Tear Us Apart, and Atmosphere, as well as songs from the EP An Ideal For Living and a Factory Records sampler. The album begins with Warsaw and Leaders Of Men and continues with the group till Digital and Dead Souls. This is the 250th album released by Factory Records.
